I'm trying to do these on a pretty limited budget. Most copy stores seem to use laserjet printers for larger jobs. I'm guessing most VHS boxes were made on an inkjet printer. But when you pick it up, it definitely makes it seem fake and cheap. This isn't so bad, because it resembles some of the wear and tear you see on older VHS boxes. Folding the 100lb cardstock around the tape ended up 'cracking' the image on the corners of the cardstock.I can't get that with traditional cardstock. VHS boxes have a glossy feel and appearance.I've played around with 100lb thickness paper with mediocre results.

I've heard 16pt or 18pt paper is fairly close in thickness. But I want to know more about the proper material and printing procedure. I've found this template at duplication.ca that has the proper layout for designing and printing a box, which is great. So, I could essentially create what appears to be a real VHS tape for a fictional movie.
